The school day begins for children before the first bell at 7:05am. Before this time children have the opportunity to mix socially with their fellow classmates and smoothly sail into the day by getting organized by preparing for the day ahead. Those children who miss this time can feel pressurized before the day even begins.
We at GMIS aim to maximize student learning opportunities and performance by ensuring that children arrive at school before the first bell.
At GMIS we strongly believe in including punctuality and regularity in children. 90% attendance is the minimum requirement.
- Parents have a responsibility to ensure that their children arrive at school before the first bell at 7:05am.
- Students who arrive after 7.05am will be recorded as late arrivals in the latecomer register by teachers responsible for checking latecomers.
- A record will be kept of all latecomers and will be reviewed regularly by the Class Teacher, Supervisor and the Principal to monitor any students who are developing a pattern of late arrival.
- If a student is late for more than three days then a written letter will be mailed from the Supervisor to the parents and then the child may be marked absent. It will be reflected on the student’s progress report.
- Children who have 95% and above will be given a certificate of punctuality at the end of the academic year.
- Please be informed that school has full right to send the students back home depending on the extent of the late arrival or give an hour detention after school to the student who is coming late for three days in a week.
We seek the support of parents in implementing this policy to provide better holistic learning opportunity to the students of GMIS.
