PYP, Community Service helps to develop in children qualities of empathy towards needy people. Our Primary School students plan and work together to raise funds and relief materials. PYP students have adopted some orphanages and schools for physically and mentally challenged students, this mean conducting regular visits, just to spend time together playing or teaching some craft, songs or regular school subjects and also providing, with what ever school materials they require. One more activity is the sale of waste paper, which is collected over a month to help finance the service programs.
MYP, Community Service program helps students to build a positive attitude. Students become aware of their strengths and weaknesses and as it involves four central elements : awareness, involvement, service and reflection. It attempts to develop responsible citizenship and the understanding of the world around theme through intercultural awareness, it also encourages tolerance, respect and empathy.
myp students from grade 6 to grade 10 are are expected to undertake Community Service projects, which include minimum two in-school projects and two out of school projects.
These activities involve :
- An event or activity of benefit to the community
- An event or activity to support non-profit organizations
- Structured programs to promote tutoring, mentoring, visiting, coaching, to assist others.
- An event or activity affiliated with a club, organization, arts cultural organization, to make a positive contribution to the community.
- An event or activity that promotes and contributes to the health and well-being of any group.
DIPLOMA, students are required to complete 150 hours of C.A.S (Creativity, Action, Service) activities, divided equally among the three categories of creativity, action and service. This is equivalent to 3 or 4 hours per week. The students should choose activities that promote personal growth and awareness of the world around theme. Recently the IB Diploma CAS students organized a blood donation drive with the support of the Indonesian Red Cross, in response to the Government’s plea.
